Active Cares: Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer

In the beginning of 2017, the Canadian Cancer Society released a study that stated 1 in 2 Canadians would be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes. Furthermore, 1 in 4 would end up dying from cancer.

Active understands the gravity of this situation and works towards raising money to find a cure through participation in the Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer.

Scotiabank's annual Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer event brings together 150 teams and hundreds of supporting friends and family for a day filled with fun games and excitment. This dawn-to-dusk event helps raise awareness and donations to help cure cancer.

Active's participation

Here at Active, we care about oursocial responsibility. This will be Active's second year participating in the event as both fundraisers and road hockey members. Active will have 2 staff teams alongside Andrew's team of personal contacts.

Active has been a great contributor to the organization, raising over 45K between Andrew's teammates alone and an additional 15K amongst Active's staff. This year, we have set a company goal of 20K. We have also contributed in many other ways, including donating 172 bus shelter media advertisements to help advertise their organization.

Participating in the Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer event not only allows us to exercise our social responsibility but also to enjoy physical activity and build teamwork. We are excited to be participating in the event once again this year and encourage all to help fundraise for the good cause
