4 Lessons From Johnny Cupcakes At Advertising Week

Known as the "Idea Farmer," Johnny Earle is the founder of the clothing and branding company, Johnny Cupcakes. Here are some lessons we learned at his morning talk at Advertising Week 2017 in New York City:

  1. i. Do not be afraid to fail fast and fail often. Earle didn't start 16 businesses by the time he was 16 because he was successful at his ventures. He started 16 companies because 15 of them failed at one level or another.
  3. ii. Do more of what makes you happy. Whether at our jobs or businesses everyone should focus on being happy with the work that they do.
  5. iii. Create merchandise around memories. Earle's stores sell t-shirts but they look like a cupcake store. Everything from the scent of sugar to the cupcake boxes that hold the t-shirts is all about ingraining the brand of Johnny Cupcakes in the minds and hearts of all his customers.
  7. iv. People thrive off of new and memorable experiences. One doesn't need to sell t-shirts out of a cupcake shop to do this. Think about how you will deliver your service to clients or your product to consumers. How can we all make the purchase and service experience a positive and memorable one?
